He directed District Executive Directors (DEDs) to write to the ministry instantly so that they could release the money.
“The ministry has enough money at this time. Whenever we receive requests of funds for completion of any water project in the country we instantly work on the request,” the deputy minister noted, adding that the government was determined to ensure all water projects are completed.
Mr Kamwela was responding to a supplementary question floated by Rombo MP under Chadema ticket, Mr Joseph Selasini, who had wanted to know why the government was failing to complete water projects.
Mr Selasini noted that in his constituency just like other constituencies, there were a number of water projects whose completion was hanging in balance as the government was reluctant in issuing funds.
The deputy minister also said that water woes currently facing Igunga and Nzega districts will become a thing of the past after completion of the extension of Lake Victor water pipeline to the region.
The government has already received a loan from The EXIM Bank of India towards the cost of Extension of Lake Victoria Pipeline to Tabora, Igunga and Nzega. Mr Kamwela said that the current water accessibility in Igunga Township stands at 60 per cent and will reach 100 per cent as soon as the Lake Victoria pipeline extension project is completed.
